Ganter Position Indicators, Control Knobs and Indexing
In addition to scales, spirit levels and scale rings, this group includes control knobs, indexing mechanisms and analog and digital position indicators.
Read, reproduce and secure settings
During format changes, set-up work and feed movements, positions need to be set accurately, read off and found again exactly when required. The elements in this group make settings visible and repeatable. Position indicators are mounted directly on spindles or shafts and display the position in revolutions. They are available in analogue and digital versions and with different mounting principles, such as pendulum or fixing systems. Control knobs with integrated position indicators combine operation and display in a single part. Scales, scale rings and spirit levels support alignment and adjustment, while indexing elements and clamping elements for adjusting spindles secure the selected position. Magnetic measuring systems allow contactless length measurement.
Selection criteria and versions
- Analogue or digital: Mechanical position indicators work without a power supply; digital versions provide a direct numerical display.
- Mounting: Pendulum or fixing system, depending on installation position and space.
- Shaft and bore: Hollow shafts and reducing bushes adapt the indicator to different shaft diameters.
- Material: Plastic, aluminium or stainless steel, for example position indicators with stainless steel hollow shafts for damp environments.
- Scales: Available in stainless steel, aluminium and plastic for different requirements in robustness and weight.

Frequently asked questions
What are position indicators used for?
For spindle adjustments where positions must be set repeatably, for example during format changes on packaging machines or for adjustable stops.
Will a position indicator fit my shaft?
Check the bore diameter. Reducing bushes allow many indicators to be adapted to smaller shafts.
