Precise guidance on the profile

Linear guides absorb forces and moments and ensure that slides, doors or adjustment units move smoothly and with minimal play along an axis. In the item Automation System the guides are combined directly with aluminium profiles, so the guideway and supporting structure form a single unit.

Guide types and components

  • Roller guides: track rollers (e.g. D10, D14K) run on bolts in bearing units and double bearing units. The codes z and e denote concentric and eccentric versions; eccentric bolts allow guide play to be adjusted.
  • Shaft guides: ball bushing units on steel shafts, with shaft clamps and clamping block caps for a clean finish.
  • Ball rail guides: carriages for profile rail guides such as PS 4-25 for higher rigidity and accuracy.
  • Accessories: end stops, wiper and lubrication systems and components for series 5 and 8.

Selection criteria

Consider load and lever arms, required accuracy, travel speed and ambient conditions such as dust or chips. Roller guides are robust and easy to adjust, shaft guides run particularly smoothly, and ball rail guides suit high demands on precision and rigidity. Also check that the components match the profile series of your structure.

Frequently asked questions

What do the codes z and e on bolts and bearing units mean?

z stands for concentric, e for eccentric. Eccentric versions allow the preload between track roller and guideway to be adjusted.

What is the wiper and lubrication system for?

It keeps the running surface clean and supplies it with lubricant, which supports smooth running.

Can a guide be added to an existing frame?

As the components are fastened to item profiles, guides can usually be integrated into existing structures as well.
