Power transmission in profile technology

Drive elements transfer motion from the motor or handwheel to slides, carriages or adjustment units. In the item Automation System they are designed to be fastened to item profiles – for example toothed belt reversing units that mount directly on the profile end. This makes it possible to build belt axes, rack drives or synchronously driven double axes without complex custom parts.

Components at a glance

  • Toothed belt reversing units: for series 5 and 8, with bore or with connection for connecting shafts (e.g. VK32), plus counter reversing units.
  • Toothed belts and tensioners: belts by the roll plus tensioning block, counter bearing and hold-down for adjusting belt tension.
  • Racks: drive, segments and end pieces for rack drives.
  • Chain reversing units: with bore or VK14 shaft connection.
  • Bevel gearboxes WG: in 90°, 180° and 360° versions for redirecting and distributing drive motion.
  • Shafts and couplings: connecting shafts, synchronous shaft compensating couplings, clamping sets and coupling housings.
  • Drive sets: for example for KLE cross linear units and other linear units.

What to consider

Select drive elements to match the profile series, belt width and shaft connection. For two parallel axes, connecting shafts and bevel gearboxes provide a synchronous drive.

Frequently asked questions

How do I drive two axes synchronously?

Using connecting shafts with the appropriate shaft connection, combined with bevel gearboxes and compensating couplings where needed.

How is the toothed belt tensioned?

With the toothed belt tensioners, consisting of tensioning block and counter bearing, which are matched to the belt.

When does a rack drive make sense?

Racks can be assembled from segments to almost any length and are suitable when several carriages need to travel independently on one track.
